3CX Month: How to Use Presence in 3CX

Jay Brant • Nov 10, 2016 •

Every business day for the month of November, we will be posting a useful tip for 3CX, a powerful SIP-based unified communications platform.

Presence is one of the key advantages of a unified communications platform over traditional telephony. You can tell if someone’s available, busy, or otherwise, right from your console. You’ll save time and hassle by using presence.

3CX makes it easy for everyone on your team to update and view presence.

To set your own presence, simply press on your current status on the dialpad:

You’ll have a choice of presence settings: available, away, do not disturb, lunch and business trip. You can add a custom status message, if you want, and set it to automatically change your presence when idle.

To see everyone else’s presence, press the presence icon in the bottom left corner of the dialpad.

When the presence menu pops up, you’ll see all the extensions on your network and their current statuses. You can call them by double-clicking their information.

If you right-click the extension, you’ll get even more options, such as leaving a voicemail, initiating a chat, or extending a conference invite.
