Add Wi-Fi connectivity to Poly VVX 50 Series IP Phones using the inexpensive Polycom OBiWiFi5G USB Adapter. Plug this dongle into the USB port on the phone, follow the simple steps given below, and you have a wireless VoIP phone! Then you can put the phone anywhere your Wi-Fi network reaches. The dongle works with all Poly VVX 50 Series phones except VVX 150:
- Poly VVX 250 IP Phone
- Poly VVX 350 IP Phone

It works for all editions of the VVX 50 Series IP Phones: standard, Skype for Business, and OBi.
So, for instance, if you want to use Google Voice by G Suite wirelessly, you can use Polycom VVX 250 OBi Edition with the dongle to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The Polycom OBi Edition Phones are the first VoIP phones on the market that are certified for Google Voice by G Suite.

Wi-Fi on Polycom VVX 50 Series Phones
Here are clear, simple instructions for enabling Wi-Fi connectivity, connecting to a Wi-Fi network, and disconnecting from a Wi-Fi network on your VVX 50 Series phone.
Note: the phones do not natively support Wi-Fi: you have to use the dongle. You cannot use Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity at the same time. Enabling Wi-Fi connectivity disables your Ethernet connection.
How to Enable Wi-Fi Connectivity on VVX 50 Series
- Plug the Polycom OBiWiFi5G dongle into your phone
- Choose Start
- Choose Wi-Fi
- Choose On
- Choose Yes
You phone will automatically reboot. After that’s done, Wi-Fi is enabled.
How to Connect to a Wi-Fi Network on VVX 50 Series
Once Wi-Fi is enabled, the phone will automatically scan for Wi-Fi networks. All you need to do is select the desired network, enter the password, and you’re good to go!
If you want to manually add a Wi-Fi network on your phone, here’s how to do it:
- Go to Settings > Basic > Wi-Fi
- Choose Add Network
- Under SSID, enter the name of the Wi-Fi network
- Choose the network security type and other security settings as necessary
- Save the settings
The phone will then try to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Note: VVX phones don’t support WEP encryption.
How to Disconnect from a Wi-Fi Network on VVX 50 Series
- Go to Setting > Basic > Wi-Fi
- Choose the Wi-Fi network you want to disconnect from
- Choose Disconnect
If you want to remove the Wi-Fi network from being saved, instead of Disconnect choose Forget.
